授業の主題 / Topic

Nowadays, there are many occasions at communities, workplaces and schools, where members or students are required to solve problems and to create new things by discussing and learning with each other. Facilitation is about encouraging and helping participatory activities to go smoothly and effectively. In this course, "Introduction to Facilitation", students learn the attitudes and skills required for facilitators and discuss topics on facilitation especially for university education.
授業の目標 / Objective

This course aims for students to acquire the attitude and skills for facilitation and the basic competence to provide learning support for university students. Also, it aims to nurture the ability of the students to reflect and direct own learning through recording one's learning in the course.

- To explain the theory of facilitation and the paradigm shift in university education.
- To acquire basic knowledge of and to discuss attitudes and skills for facilitation.
- To provide learning support for university students with attitudes and skills for facilitation.
- To reflect own thoughts and actions objectively, through recording own learning process and outputs.

Week 2: Paradigm shift in university education
Week 3: Attitudes for facilitation
Week 4: Facilitation skills (1)

Week 6: Learning support and peer support
Week 7: Learning support in practice
Week 8: Reflective learning

Every class is organized in the workshop style, including group discussions. In order to participate in discussions or group activities, students need to complete assignments before coming to class. Also, students are required to reflect and record their own actions and thoughts in learning portfolios after every class.

評価の方法 / Grading Method
 Performance rating:
  Grade will be decided holistically as below, based on the following terms/rates.
  「S(Academic achievement 90%〜100%)」,「A(over80%, less than90%)」,
「B(over 70%, less than80%)」, and「C(over60%, less than70%)」 are indicators of passing,
「不可(less than 60%)」is an indicator of failure.(Standard rating method)

授業には、3分の2以上の出席を必要とする。/Attendance to at least two-thirds of classes is required.
